A great application needs as much information and evidence as you can provide to show that these tenets are satisfied. It’s often helpful to have references from other people in support of your application, and we will also need some detail on your financial position.

We support any vocational education, with a focus on its impact on social mobility.

This can be from secondary school education through to higher education, but we also support any skills based vocational training beyond academia.

No.

Yes, certainly.

Generally, around £3000 per year. We rarely cover 100% of the needed finance but each application is judged on a case-by-case basis.

Normally our grants are towards tuition fees, paid directly to the education provider. We can occasionally look to cover other costs but normally you would need to cover those elsewhere.

We support a successful applicant until the conclusion of their course.

If you’re looking for support for GCSEs or A-levels, discuss this with your school and have them apply to us when you’ve been offered a place.
For other education you can apply at any point before you course starts, but at least 3 months before your course starts is ideal. We may need to ask you for some more information, and there’s only so much funding we can offer to all in a year.

Twice a year, February for school courses and July other education.

Yes we can, subject to us having funding available at that time. Apply when you need and make this clear in your application.

Sustainability is important to us. We may not be able to pay out the grant offered unless we can see that you will be able to complete the course.

Not necessarily. Sometimes having an offer of funding has helped applicants secure their place. We can make offers of funding conditional on you providing confirmation of a place later.

If you have some funding but are still short of what you need, we can still help. If you’re fully covered from elsewhere then we won’t be able to help you.

We are not an alternative to a student loan. If it’s available to you we would expect you to take that option up, but we can help with any shortfall over and above the student loan.

Yes, you can.

Generally, we offer to applicants looking to study in the UK, but if you can show how your course overseas best fits our criteria then we’d love to hear about it.
